LED Lighting

LED stands for "light-emitting diode." An LED light emits a single wavelength of light when charged with an electric current and have many practical applications and advantages over conventional light fittings.

They are often very small and use less energy than incandescent lights.
They are also far less likely to burn out.
They can produce a desired color without applying a filter. They can also produce white light.

For space lighting, LED lights are an eco-friendly choice. They use less electricity and produce less heat than incandescents, and unlike fluorescent lights they contain no mercury. Since they're encased in plastic, they're not as easily damaged as other light sources.

In many cases the payback period of fitting LED can be as little as two years.
